<br />The Washington Township Board of Trustees met in Regular Session on April 15, 2013, at <br />7:30 p.m. at the Washington Township Government Center, 8200 McEwen Road. President <br />Young opened the meeting and led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION BY THE GARGS OF DONATION FOR BUTTERFLY PLAYGROUND <br /> <br />Linda Madden, Sr. Rec Supervisor, thanked all of the volunteers at the Rec Center and <br />throughout the Township. She introduced Hemant and Arti Garg who have worked tirelessly <br />for six years to make the Butterfly Playground a reality. They have pledged $50,000 and are <br />here to present a donation towards that goal. <br /> <br />Mr. Garg presented a check for $10,000. The Gargs have already turned over other checks, <br />one being for $21,000, and indicated that they would make another check presentation when <br />they reach another five digit total. He thanked Linda for her photography and for everything <br />she has done. <br /> <br />Mrs. Garg thanked Linda for being with them throughout this journey. She did not believe this <br />would have been possible if it was not for her. Mrs. Garg also thanked the Township for the <br />opportunity to give back to the community. <br /> <br />Mrs. Young thanked Mr. and Mrs. Garg and Mrs. Madden. <br /> <br />Mrs. Madden expressed her hope that the project will be completed this summer. <br /> <br />EAGLE SCOUT PRESENTATIONS <br /> <br />Proclamations for Eagle Scouts Grant Albrecht, Alexander Bair, and Benjamin Hansen were <br />read by Joyce Young while Dale Berry and Scott Paulson presented them with their <br />proclamations. They were congratulated on fulfilling the significant requirements for their <br />advancement to Eagle Scout and were thanked, along with the other members of Boy Scout <br />Troup 516, for their contributions to our community. Derek Schardt and Eric Westhaus will <br />also receive proclamations, but were not present to receive them. <br /> <br />AMERICANA UPDATE <br /> <br />Steve Wenstrup, Americana’s Chairman, thanked the Township for their help. He gave the <br />Trustees an update on the upcoming Americana events. The events will start on Thursday, <br />July 4th. <br /> <br />VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION <br /> <br />As names from the various boards were called, the volunteers were asked to come forward <br />and receive a small token of appreciation. Volunteers included members of the Visual <br />Improvement Committee, Rec Advisory Board, Historical Society, fire department medical <br />advisors, Town Hall Theater volunteers, Americana Festival Committee, Zoning Commission, <br />Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office volunteers, Rec Center volunteers, Board of Zoning <br />Appeals, Centerville-Washington Foundation, Diversity Council, and Hithergeen Senior Center <br />Board. <br />4/15/13 <br /> Page 1 <br /> <br /> <br />
