The Washington Township Board of Trustees met in Regular Session on January 14, 2013, at
7:30 p.m. at the Washington Township Government Center, 8200 McEwen Road. President
Young opened the meeting and led the Pledge of Allegiance.

FISCAL OFFICER’S BUSINESS

County Auditor Tax Value On Recreation & Fire Levy

Before the Township Trustees can submit a Resolution to the Board of Elections for a
proposed property tax levy, the Township must get the County Auditor to certify the total
current tax valuation of Washington Township and the dollar amount of revenue which will be
generated by a specific amount of millage. Washington Township has two levies that expire at
the end of 2013; a recreation levy for .7 mills and a fire levy for 3.0 mills. The Trustees would
like to certify to the County Auditor the renewal of each one of these levies.

In addition to renewing the .7 Rec Levy and the 3 mill fire levy, the Trustees are considering an
additional levy for the Fire Department due to lost State revenue and increased manning
requirements. The Trustees are considering an additional levy of 1.25 up to 1.75 mills. They
are also considering replacing the 3 mill, 5 year fire levy, with increases from 1.25 up to 1.75
mills. The final decision on levies will be made at the February 4, 2013, Trustee Meeting.

It was moved by Mr. Berry, seconded by Mr. Paulson, that the Board adopts a resolution
certifying to the County Auditor the total current tax value of Washington Township and the
total dollar of revenue that would be generated by a .7 mill levy for recreation purposes.

Vote on Motion: Berry, aye; Paulson, aye; Young, aye.
