WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS MINUTES
December 27, 2010

The Washington Township Board of Zoning Appeals met in regular session on December 27, 2010 in the
Meeting Room of Washington Township Government Center. Members of the Board present were Mr.
Horine, Mrs. Miller, Mr. Schwartz and Mr. McDaniel. Mrs. Fish, Mrs. Mulligan and Mr. Roberts were
excused. Call to order at 7:00 p.m.

Mr. Horine explained the hearing format and voting procedure.
The Oath was administered by Mr. Horine.
Case #A-1624: Reiff & Melissa Lorenz, 6510 Halberd Ct
Request under Article 2, Section 3D, for a
variance from Article 7, Section 5(B) of the Washington Township Zoning Resolution to the side yard
setb
(R-4) zoning district.
Zoning Staff, John Bull, presented the case.
Mr. Horine- The second level of the house is mostly siding, correct?
Mr. Bull- Yes.
Reiff & Melissa Lorenz, 6510 Halberd Ct. - We wanted to maintain the character of the house as we were
designing this addition. We have maintained the brick façade on the front and matched the roof lines and
character. We wanted the addition to look like it was part of the original house.
Mr. Horine- Will it match the existing siding on the house?
Mr. Lorenz- Yes.
Mr. Horine- The airplane that you plan to build is depicted there on the plans?
Mr. Lorenz- Yes, that is why we needed the variance to accommodate the full length of the plane.
Mr. Horine- Are you sure you will have enough room to rotate the plane a few degrees when you remove
it from the garage?
Mr. Lorenz- Yes our architect has done the 3-D dimensional models show removal will work. The wings
will come off to allow you to rotate it.
Citizens voicing concerns, question and comments included:
