Washington Township proudly presented this award for the third year
because of the belief that strong communities rely on a strong ethic of volunteerism. When
students volunteer their time, they help their communities and set an example for their peers to
follow. Fostering a strong sense of volunteerism is extremely important because the future of
our communities will soon be in their hands. Service club advisors at Centerville High School
select the winner of this award and the winner this year is Madhumitha Ravikumar. Madhu
has been involved in numerous activities at Centerville High School, is active with her faith and
has helped her community by distributing flyers for the Park levy and helping with kids voting.
It was moved by Mrs. Young, seconded by Mr. Blair, that the Board present the 2005
Community Service Award to Madhumitha Revikumar with the following proclamation.
COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD — MADHUMITHA RAVIKUMAR
WHEREAS, The Washington Township Board of Trustees has established the Washington
Township Community Service Award to recognize the Centerville High School student who
best exemplifies a spirit of community service; and
WHEREAS, Madhumitha provided leadership this year as president of the Octagon Club,
organizing projects for more than 200 volunteers at Centerville High School; and
WHEREAS, she has served as a role model with Lunch Buddies and Chem Buddies, tutored
others, taught economics to elementary students as a member of Junior Achievement, and
participated six years on the Washington - Centerville Public Library Teen Advisory Board; and
06/06/05
