NT <br />WASHINGTON <br />TOWNSHIP <br />Welcome To More <br />FOR INFORMATION, CONTACT: <br />Jesse Lightle, Township Administrator, 937-433-0152 <br />Jacqueline Curl, Public Information Manager, 937-433-0152 <br />FOR RELEASE: <br />July 14, 2020 <br />Adeola Adelekan Receives the Terry Blair Scholarship <br />Adeola Adelekan of Washington Township has received the sixth annual Terry Blair Scholarship, <br />established to recognize a recent Centerville High School graduate who has demonstrated an interest in <br />the leadership and service that Blair epitomized while serving as a Washington Township Trustee and as <br />a representative to the Ohio General Assembly. <br />The $1,000 scholarship was presented by Blair's widow, Judy, at the July 13 online meeting of the <br />Washington Township Board of Trustees. <br />Adelekan has achieved recognition twice as regional champion in intercultural health for Ohio HOSA <br />(Health Occupations Students of America) and her service activities include cooking and serving meals at <br />St. Vincent DePaul Center and House of Bread; mentoring elementary students through Lunch buddies; <br />and tutoring middle school students through Study Buddies. Her leadership and extracurricular activities <br />include cofounding and serving as president of Centerville High School's Black Student Union, serving as <br />communications director for Interact Club, and participating on the leadership team of the National <br />Honor Society. <br />Adelekan also has been a member of the Youth Leadership Committee at Tabernacle Baptist Church <br />Youth Ministry and worked part-time. She plans to attend Emory University with the goal of working for <br />the US Department of Health and Human Services. She is the daughter of Dr. Tahira and Tokunbo <br />Adeleken. <br />The scholarship was established by the Blair family in memory of Blair who died in office while <br />representing Ohio's 42nd district in the Ohio General Assembly. The award process is ad -ministered by <br />Centerville Noon Optimist Club. <br />
